Expectant/Newborn Parents

Having a baby is an exciting and joyous event! It can also be a very hectic and tiring time. We are here to help you get ready to welcome your baby!

Expectant Parents

We offer in-office and virtual visits for expectant parents to visit the office, meet Dr. Douglas, NP Orchid, and our staff. This will provide an opportunity for you to ask any questions that you may have. You are not required to have a pre-visit or pre-register

Newborn Parents

Congratulations! After the birth of your baby, please inform the doctor or nurse at the hospital know that you have chosen Dr. Errol Douglas/Gold Pediatrics LLC as your pediatrician. The hospital Pediatrician will care for the baby during the hospital stay, and we will take over after discharge.

Once you are informed about the discharge date, please call our office to schedule your newborn first visit. Newborns are seen within 1-2 days after discharge. If you are discharged over the weekend, you may call the office and listen to the recording, do not press any buttons and leave a message. Someone will call you the next business morning.

If you're a first-time parent or have an addition to your family, you may have questions about your newborn. We would like to make things simple and easy for you and your family by providing the following useful information.

What To Bring to Your First Appointment

  • Hospital newborn discharge papers
  • Photo ID
  • Insurance card or Proof of Coverage

Insurance Coverage

Making sure your baby is covered under a health plan is very important. After the birth of your newborn, most commercial insurance companies will cover your baby for the first 30 days of life. Please keep in mind that not all policies will cover your newborn unless you add the baby to your insurance plan.

When you have a baby, it is considered a "qualifying life event". This means that you can add your baby to your insurance plan without having to wait until open enrollment. Most insurance companies have a limited time in which this can be done, which in most cases will be 30 days.

Please don’t delay and make sure to contact your insurance company and/or Human Resource department as soon as possible to obtain information on what documents are required.

For the first 30 days Gold Pediatrics LLC will accept your eligible insurance, while waiting for your child to be added to an insurance plan. You will be financially responsible for any fees not covered by your insurance plan during this period.

If you would like more detailed information, please visit our Billing and Insurance Information or you may contact our financial specialist at (301) 517-9712.
